Crakk Movie Review

                "JEETEGA... TOH JEEYEGA"

Vidyut Jammwal's Action Hero Films brings us the first-ever extreme sports action film in India. This action-packed entertainer shows one of the World's Best Martial Artists in all his glory. Let us dive into the world of Crakk and discuss it like true cinephiles in full crack mode!

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS SO READ IT ONLY ONCE YOU'VE WATCHED THE MOVIE. SKIP TO THE LAST PART IF YOU ONLY WANT THE VERDICT.

                                               OPENING

The movie dives into the world of Maidaan from the start itself after giving the backstory of the protagonist. The train sequence, Khayal Rakhna song followed by the adrenaline rush infusing stunts set up the perfect base for the movie. The concept of Hero rising from the slums of Mumbai was decent as it is something that we have already seen in many movies.

                                VIDYUT JAMMWAL AS SIDDU

Vidyut Jammwal was a treat to watch as Siddharth Dixit. His action as usual was on a superhuman level. He takes his stunts a level higher with every movie of his and that is why all the Jammwalions love and idolize him. The Mumbai tapori slang and body language on him was something new to watch. However I felt that his acting potential yet remains untapped with this movie too as have all seen how great of an actor Vidyut is in movies like Khuda Haafiz and Force.

                                                ACTING

Ankit Mohan was really great as Nihal Dixit. Having watched his previous work in Haiwaan(2019) I really loved watching him. Arjun Rampal was fantastic as the antagonist of the movie. After giving badass vibes in movies like Don and Raone he is now back as one of the most sought actors once again with playing the villain in movies like Crakk, Dhaakad and Bhagavanth Kesari. It was nice to watch Amy Jackson after a long time. Although her screen presence was minimal she does a decent job. Nora Fatehi is prettier than ever before. It felt nice to see her in the role of a heroine. She does a fair job. The other cast were below average to be honest.

ACTION AND THE WORLD OF MAIDAAN

The action in the movie was exemplary. All the stunts and action sequences from the intro train sequence till the end hand to hand combat scenes were just fabulous. The fact that most of the scenes were done in reality without the use of heavy VFX is just commendable. All the races in Maidaan were extremely exciting.

                           MUSIC, STORY AND DIRECTION

This was perhaps the weakest aspect of the movie. Aditya Datt does an average job with the direction department but the writing of the movie was the major drawback. The pace of the movie picks up in a few scenes and falls flat in others. Although the whole concept of Maidaan was good and the movie being India's first extreme sports action movie was a huge advantage, this part of the movie was a huge let down. The OST(original soundtrack) of the movie was mediocre.

                                   MY FAVOURITE SCENE

My most favourite scene is the Race 2 reloaded scene. Right from the audience shouting ''Siddu! Siddu!'' till the race sequence was too good. Alia and Siddu chemistry in this scene was the main highlight along with Dev's expressions.

                                             VERDICT

I will give this movie 6/10. Although the movie falters in many ways this action spectacle should be watched in the theaters. The Jammwalions will have the time of their lives while watching this movie. On the box office front the movie will make ordinary collections but will recover the money through digital rights, music rights, satellite rights, etc.
