Dunki Movie Review
''LUTT PUTT GAYA IN THE WORLD OF DUNKI "
While the movies Pathaan and Jawan showcased Shah Rukh Khan as a Superstar , DUNKI shows him as the actor which made him the 'King of Bollywood'. Let's dive into the world of Dunki and discuss it in detail!
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS SO READ IT ONLY ONCE YOU'VE WATCHED THE MOVIE
OPENING
The movie takes a decent start by introducing the plot and characters and then diving into the flashback. The contrast of emotions of people from the village in Punjab wanting to go to to London very desperately from the start and them wanting to go back to India with the same desperation towards the end shows true patriotism. Them choosing the dunki(donkey) route as the last resort shows us how hard the journey and their need is.
Shah Rukh Khan as Hardy
SRK as Hardayal Singh Dhillion is top notch. He portrays the character with ease by showing care, innocence, fierceness of a soldier, love, pain and patriotism. He makes us laugh, teary eyed, instills love for his character and much more. His acting in the pre-interval block and climax is just too good. The way he acts and showcases his emotions through his eyes only is what I love most about him.
Acting
Taapsee Pannu gives her career best performance. Boman Irani excels as always. The supporting cast played a pivotal role in keeping the viewers engrossed in the movie. Vickey Kaushal's extended cameo was what shows the importance of the dunki route that the movie is based on. The chemistry between Shah Rukh and Taapsee was average.
Direction, Writing and Screenplay
Personally having always liked Rajkumar Hirani there's no doubt about his direction, this is evident through his 100% success ratio as a director. The movie has decent dialogues, a good amount of comedy and emotions. I feel that even though he said from the start that it is a small scale movie it wasn't that impactful. Compared to his previous movies like PK, 3 idiots and Munna Bhai MBBS this fails to impress.
